The Camden Spirit Awards

Camden Spirit Awards-The Stables Market, Camden
Working at a local paper has been exhausting, but luckily I managed to muster up enough energy on Wednesday evening to head down to the Stables Market in Camden to meet the three lucky winners of the Camden Spirit Awards and have a browse through their current collections.

Now, before I start raving about the amazing girls and inspiration behind the winning designs, I should probably explain what exactly the awards are. They’ve been set up by Pure London and Camden Market to recognise up and coming talent, and each winner of the award has been given an exclusive spot in the Stables Market, where they’ll be based for the next six months (free of charge)!
Each designer has planned and refurbished their spaces themselves, and walking between the three really gave me an insight into the inspirations behind the brands and the time/place you’d wear them.

If, like me, you sometimes like to make a statement, Natasha Wright’s designs are perfect. It’s the modern version of power dressing, with bright, skintight cropped tanks, patterned bombers and statement minidresses.
I have my eye (no pun intended….okay, yes I thought I was being clever) on this beautiful purple, panelled bodycon dress. I love the use of different textures and each piece is handmade, so you can be sure you won’t bump into someone else wearing it!

With flowers hanging from the ceiling (artificial, of course) Fay and Solas definitely had the most feminine boutique. Jennifer Morris launched the brand as a sister to her already popular Jennifer Morris luxury line, but with a much more attainable price point.
The shop feels like a Secret
Garden of beautifully hand-made, contemporary fashion, and I would happily get lost in it.
Probably my favourite of the three was Sera Ulger, whose collections held a delicious mix of graphic prints that are intense enough to make your eyes go funny. I’ve always been a sucker for an interesting print, and when you combine it with 90s designs it’s just heaven!
I was particularly drawn to the fish print, it’s like a tecno, fish pond rave! As well as kick-ass prints, SULDN have installed a kissing door where shoppers can leave their mark by puckering up. I didn’t manage to leave my print when I was there at the event, but I’ll definitely be popping in to leave one soon!

  • I love how unique each one is, I think ‘The Original Leroy’ is my fave, the designs are awesome!
