Beauty edit: The daytime date

The daytime date…

With Valentine’s day fast approaching, I’m sure lots of you already have plans for how you’re going to spend the day. And if your plans include a day-trip somewhere, then you’re going to love today’s post!

While deciding what to wear for a date can be difficult enough (stay tuned for my styling tips and tricks for that) deciding how to do your makeup can also be tricky. Do you go for a bold lip and hope they don’t try to kiss you? Keep it natural and minimal? Or attempt a masterfully blended bronze smokey eye?

If you’re looking for some beauty inspiration for an upcoming date, look no further!

Here are my picks for what to use when doing your makeup for a daytime date…

Too Faced Love Flush Blush

Keep the blush subtle

If you’re out and about during the day, the last thing you want is a strong blusher that’s obvious from miles off in natural daylight. Therefore, I like to go for a light, cool-toned pink blush and use it sparingly across the apples of my cheeks. After applying, I usually buff it in using a kabuki brush to give a really natural, blended finish.

SENSAI mascara mini

Create fluttery lashes

If I’m doing my makeup for the day, I like to really go to town with the mascara. If, like me, you’re looking to create long, voluminous lashes I suggest using a mascara with a smaller, more precise wand and wiggling it at the base of your lashes before slowly brushing it upwards to the tips of your lashes. I often add a quick swipe of gel liner along my lash line, winged out, to give my lashes the appearance of being thicker than they actually are.

PAUL & JOE pink lipgloss

Plump your pout

Typically, I stick to a nude lip colour, but if I’m heading out for a date I like to go for something a little bit more exciting! If you want to add some volume to your lips, the easiest way to do it is by using a gloss to give your lips a more 3D look. I like to go for a warm pink, as I find anything pale really drains the colour our of my face.

PAUL & JOE nail polish taupe

Neutralise your nails

I love painting my nails, and tend to stick to neutral colours. At the moment I’m loving taupe shades, and I find painting on a couple of coats of polish really helps me to feel a bit more put together. If I was going on an evening date, I would lean more towards a darker shade, but for a daytime date I think a taupe is perfect.

Spritz a floral fragrance

Finally, before heading out the door I like to spritz a fragrance onto my pulse points. A body mist is perfect for the daytime, as the fragrances tend to be fairly subtle. I think floral scents are perfect for the daytime, and anything with rose in it is a winner for me!
