I think I’ve only been in a relationship for a grand total of one Valentine’s Day, so over the years I’ve become pretty good at spending the day alone. I know some people like to just ignore the day and pretend it doesn’t exist, but I actually like to use it as an excuse to treat myself…
There’s lots of different ways I like to do this, so I thought I would share some of them with you today!
Spend time with loved ones
Not sure if you know this…but I LOVE my dog a ridiculous amount and spending time with his always makes me feel happy.
Unfortunately, this year I won’t be at home for Valentine’s (I’ll be at the flat I’m renting in London) but when I am I love to spend the evening cuddled up with Atlas watching a Disney movie.
As you can see, he can be a bit of a grump, but if he lets me we have a nice, long cuddle session on the sofa tucked up in my duvet.
Pamper your skin
I love looking after my skin, and what better excuse than Valentine’s day to give it a mini facial session?!
I have a fair few face masks in my collection, and due to the recent cold weather, I think I’ll opt for something really hydrating this Tuesday and have a soak in the bath while I let it work its magic.
I find sheet masks are the best for this as they’re so much easier (and way less messy) to apply and remove.
Book a treatment
I bloody love treating myself to a blowdry, manicure or massage (which you can probably tell from this post) so why not book on in for Valentine’s Day?
Spend what you would normally put towards a present for a boyfriend/girlfriend and enjoy the luxury of treating yourself to something you wouldn’t normally splurge on.
If you’re not sure what/where to book, Treatwell has a huge range of salons/spas and treatments for you to choose from. I’m going to book myself in for a mani-pedi because, trust me, by hands and feet are in desperate need for a bit of TLC.
If you’re a bit tight on money, not to worry. Treatwell have a selection of 2 for 1 Spa Days, up to 50% off hair removal and up to 30% off off-peak manis – result!
Read, read, read
If there’s one thing I wish I had more time to do, it’s read.
I have a HUGE stack of books and magazines that I really want to delve into this month, and Valentine’s day is the perfect excuse to get started on them.
I’m going to get stuck into a copy of Oh Comely while I relax in the bath with a face mask on – perfect.
So, if you’re single this Valentine’s I hope I’ve provided some inspiration for how to celebrate the day on your own.
