Keeping nails healthy and strong
I don’t know about you, but I’m impartial to wearing the occasional set of false nails which, once I get down to removing them, can leave my natural nails in a complete and utter state!
Recently, I’ve been taking a break from the fake nails and am trying to grow my natural nails out. Therefore, I’ve been relying pretty heavily on the nail care products I have in my stash to transform my nails, and I thought I would tell you a little bit more about the exact products I’ve been using and how I’ve been using them.
All of these products are from Leighton Denny, a brand I’ve used for at least a couple of years now, and I’m so impressed with how good they’ve been at keeping my nails healthy and strong!
The base coat, top coat and cuticle oil
Using a base coat and top coat makes such a huge difference to how long a manicure lasts, and the ones I have to share with you today have some extra ingredients to keep your nails in tip top shape.
The Under Cover base coat* smooths the surface of your nails, which helps to fill in any ridges and keep your polish chip free for longer. It also dries really quickly so you don’t have to wait before painting your colour straight on.
The Bio-build Shield top coat* helps to protect and rebuild the nail, and it’s something I always reach for when I’m going for a more neutral colour on my nails to lock the colour in and strengthen my nails.
Finally, the cuticle oil* is something I use on a weekly basis to keep my cuticles soft. I like to massage a drop into each nail bed and leave it overnight to really sink in. Since using this I’ve noticed my cuticles are a lot nicer and therefore my nails look a lot better too.
Crystal nail file
Everyone needs a good nail file* in their makeup bag, I use mine to file down my nails before applying false nails on top or to shape my nails. My nails naturally grow quite square, so I like to use this nail file to create a more almond shape which, personally, I think is a lot more feminine and flattering!
Floral Marvel Balm
I love a good balm, they’re perfect for slathering on dry lips, cuticles and split ends. This floral marvel balm* is a lot thinner in consistency than I’m used to, but I think that makes it a bit easier to use as a cuticle balm as it means it sinks in quicker and is less tacky than a thicker balm.
Brilliance Treatment Trio
If your nails are really suffering and looking a little discoloured, then you need to check out this Brilliance Treatment Trio*. The polish remover cleanses the nails and preps them for the treatment. The serum should then be applied and massaged in until the nails are fully dry. Finally, the shield can be applied to lock in the serum. I would do this before bed so the serum can work overnight on my nails.
