Five products that changed my goddamn life

five life changing products

My holy grail products

We’ve all been there, that moment you look in the mirror and think…effing hell X has just changed the game because I look, and feel, bloomin’ BEAUTIFUL! Sometimes, I feel like my holy grail products really don’t get the recognition they deserve. Although I use them all pretty much daily, they’re not nearly mentioned as much as new, flashier products are because well…it would get a bit boring over here if I was just banging on about the same products week in, week out.

That said, I thought it was worth doing a holy grail round up so you can hear a bit more about the products I have re-purchased and re-purchased and practically bankrupted myself stocking up on because gahhh I just love them that much!

L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Shampoo and Conditioner

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Shampoo and Conditioner

I’m counting these as one product because what sort of weirdo only uses one of these when washing their hair?! (If you are said weirdo, it’s not personal, honest, I’m just trying to inject some comedy into my beauty posts, I’m sorry, ok?) This must be my 10th set of these magic working babies, and the reason I will always make sure I’m stocked is that they leave my hair feeling silky soft and healthy like no other.

Back when I was addicted to my hair straighteners (and not so addicted to heat protection spray) the ends of my hair were fried and, let’s be honest, the whole thing just looked like a tangled web of misery on top of my head. Luckily, the Extraordinary Oil products really saved it and I found myself in the blessed position of being asked ‘MATE, what are you using on your hair?!’

I can confirm these are life saving products. If your thick hair likes to throw frizzy strops, get ready for the silky smooth hair of your dreams.

Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm

Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm

Ok, ok, stop sniggering in the back, I’m not about to start telling you how great this is for lubing up your nips…In fact, this little tube contains THE thickest lip balm I have had the pleasure to make the acquaintance of. My lips can be quite the diva when winter rolls around, so I like to slather them in this, which seems to go into emergency soothing mode and rescue them from the brink of chapped, dry death.

This is my second tube, I have a third (still in its packaging, of course) waiting backstage, I will buy a fourth when the second gives up the ghost. Yes, for a lip balm it’s pricey but it’s bangin’ and I literally cannot function without it. I’m not being dramatic, I’m being honest.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

Cleanse and Polish is that girl at school that EVERYONE loves, that you’re determined NOT to like because you hate being like everyone else, then you meet them and it’s love at first convo because wow, they actually are as amazing as everyone says. This balm, firstly, smells like a spa so it’s instantly relaxing and a joy to use. Secondly, it really does hydrate my skin and soothe it like nothing else.

When I run out, I genuinely mourn for our mornings together, and I hurriedly bundle my way into Boots so we can be reunited. May we never be separated ever again, it’s death til we part now.

The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation

The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation

I’m not normally a fresh nude gal (interpret that as you wish), I’m normally more of a high coverage, matte lady. That said, when my beauty blender and this baby met, it was a match made in heaven and the ultimate marriage ceremony happened on my face, leaving me with dewy, natural looking coverage that (CAN YOU BELIEVE IT) actually evened out my skintone and made me look, well, flawless.

This is the only foundation I use now, it’s that good. I don’t have any intentions to stray, I may look at others but I won’t touch, promise.

L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil

Guess who’s back, back again, L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil is back, tell a friend. Doesn’t quite have the ring to it I imagined…but we’ll roll with it. Hair oil. Aka, the smoothing liquid my hair is pretty much addicted to, it can’t function without it’s morning hit, trust me.

This oil is my all time favourite because when I use it with the shampoo and conditioner above my hair is just…dreamy. It also includes heat protection, so I tend to be very generous with this before I go in with the straighteners and my locks thank me for it, in their own secret language of just behaving themselves instead of throwing another frizz fit.

So those are my holy grail products, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about them (and my attempts at humour haven’t been too off-putting…) If you have any holy grail products, please do let me know, I would love to try them out for myself and see what I think!

  • I love Cleanse and Polish too! I always go back to it when my skin’s feeling a bit sensitive because it’s just so soothing and hydrating. Boots have the Rose and Lavender version at the moment, and I’m really tempted to try it out.
