Smokey Steel LIVE hair colour
Just over six months ago (!) I was at a LIVE colour preview when I spotted what I can only describe as my perfect hair colour – Smokey Steel. I had been searching for a dark grey colour I could use on my hair, but could never find one that was quite right until I spotted this one. When I found out I would have to wait six months before I could try the hair colour, my heart sunk a bit because I couldn’t wait to put it on my hair.
Luckily, those six months have flown by and last week I finally got my hands on this hair dye* and managed to use it on my hair. This is a permanent colour, so should last around 4-6 weeks before I’ll need to do a touch up. I really love the hair colour I got using this, it’s not a true grey colour, but as you will see below it’s a dark, inky colour instead which I really love and think is perfect for Autumn (which is now just one month away!!)
Within the LIVE colour kit
Included in the hair dye kit are:
- 1 Tube Live Colour Cream
- 1 Application Bottle with Developer Lotion
- 1 Sachet Live Colour After Treatment
- 1 Pair of Gloves
- 1 Instruction Leaflet
If, like me you have long, thick hair you definitely need two boxes of this, maybe three just to be safe and ensure your hair is completely covered. I got my mum to help me dye my hair, I’m definitely not skilled enough to do this myself but if you regularly dye your hair and are confident with it, you could probably do it yourself because the applicator bottle is great for applying the colour precisely.
We began by mixing the developer and colour cream in the application bottle, and as we mixed it it went to a lilac colour, before darkening to a deep purple as we began applying it. It took around 45 minutes to apply all over my hair (probably because my hair is so thick and fairly long) and I then left it on for 30 minutes.
After the 30 minutes I washed the dye out (until the water started running clear again) and applied the after treatment for 3-5 minutes before washing that out and towel drying my hair. Once my hair had dried I could see the final colour and I really loved it! As you can see it’s an inky, dark colour with hints of grey to it which I think is really pretty. I wanted to get my hair darker for Autumn, and this colour is perfect!
Overall, I’m really impressed with the LIVE colour Smokey Steel dye, it was really easy to use and apply and gave me a really glossy, pigmented finish. If you’re looking for a darker colour to put on your hair, I really recommend checking this one out.
